I haven't had the chance to do a typographically driven piece like this for a long time. I'd like to hear some input.
Flame away.

I keep almost seeing a swastika when I look at it....especially with the red/black colors.

I decided to try the approach based on the kind of motion observed by the untrained eye when watching someone performing this kind of martial arts. It all seem like chaotic motion but is actually systematic and precise made up of a myriad of parts.
- its not bad but you need a better hierarchymoamoa
- i see. Do you think that keeping all the information as graphic elements is achievable?scrap_paper
- sure... but prpbably it would be better to do it like you mentioned your other response ;)moamoa
- cool thx

so would you guys recommend breaking out the critical info into more traditional layout while using the descriptive copy as display elements?
- I think that might work better. Maybe even use white type for the critical info.designbot

Just as another point the shape is roughly reflective of the cross-guard portion of a traditional filipino sword but I can see the other connotation that you are pointing out designbot

if it's to work as a poster, I'd avoid positioning important info like date and time vertically... overall I reckon you need to think more about the hierarchy of the content....

Needs more martial arts. If you're going to go with a dynamic layout, make it DYNAMIC. This layout should EXPLODE (not pop) from just left of centre - I'd go all out and bring in a wide perspective, with a real focal centre and shading to match. Think Manga lines and movement. Bring in some white hilights.
- HAVE FUN WITH IT.
Nairn - yeah good point. I almost feel like I've forgotten how to have fun with my workscrap_paper

i'd make the main heading white so that it and the logo are prominent together. my 2 cents.
