Someone posted this film on here the other week and I sought it out and watched it last night. It was in an underrated film thread.....
Fucking amazing. Best film I've seen for ages, and all set around my home county of Derbyshire.

"You're fucking THERE mate....."
*Snaps palm shut.

Couldn't agree more - superb film. Anything Sean Meadows does has to be up there - but DMS, brilliant!

'This is England' is dog shit

Indeed, I watched this in the Edinburgh film festival a few years ago and mr Meadows a did a Q and A before and after the film. It was great the guy seemed very cool lots of patience and quite a humble and amiable guy. We also got to see lots of shorts he had made with his pal (the lead role in dead mans shoes) the shorts were very funny. I don't think the shorts are released. The main character had not had any acting lessons.
Great movie.
- the shorts are on the extended DVD, which my mate stole off me. Paddy Considine is a legendkelpie

I'm a huge fan of Paddy Considine - most of his films are good. Looking at him "in person", you wouldn't imagine he could play such a bad ass, as he does in DMS

This is England was alright i guess but not as incendiary as everyone makes out.
I too remember that time i got indoctrinated by racists in three days.

Yeah wicked film - well shot, nice music and some great characters. It was shot around here (where I live -near Derby) and we often pass the abandoned church....a bit freaky!

"this is england" is pretty good too

one of my all time favourite films. Considine is so so good in it.
and the trippy scenes are so vivid.

He is really good in A Room for Romeo Brass

I got to see the film on Film 4 last year, good movie. The part where he confronts them in the house is so tense, scary.
- He plays a good nutter. The tracksuit scene is so funnyDuffer

he's good in Hot Fuzz too, seriously!

I'd say this and A Room for Romeo Brass are Shane Meadows best films, This Is England was rather ridiculous in places and overloaded with nostalgia. I haven't seen Somers Town but don't really consider it one of 'his' films as such.
Considine is brilliant - "WILL YA TOUCH IT, TOUCH IT!"
