Picasa is a piece of shit just because it wont let you hotlink the uploaded pics.

Picasa works so well that my girlfriend can now browse through, correct and convert my .CR2 files and put them online. I don't have to process any of our vaca pics anymore! yay!

flickr is so slow to upload, picasa just syncs in the background, flickr doesnt sync. Picasa does have a flickr plugin

I wish picasa came with a Flickr plugin. That's all really.

right now, i don't use either. but i am a google fan and am drawn to their continued integration... seems smart. my biggest need is to get photo galleries of trips and such up easily and quickly. seems like i see Flickr a heck of a lot more out there.

Adobe Bridge is good, but under Windows it just crash a lot.

Flickr is good for people having a blog. To store linked images.

picassa good for syncing - really fast. also good with gmail and better to use both online and offline. Flickr is a better community which is a shame because it's slow and not that good.

bringing this thread back... any thoughts between iPhoto '09 and Picasa? What's better?
and... what about Picasa vs Flickr?

I just don't trust iPhoto to manage the folder structure of my photos. Has anyone seen the quagmire it creates? I'd much rather manually maintain my library in a YEAR/MONTH/ETC structure. Then it's not dependent on a single piece of software.

- +100 yeah man. I HATE that shit. its impossible to get at the files. Never use iPhoto.baseline_shift
- you're a quagmirefiesta

iPhoto creates copies of edited images. Even if the only thing done is automatic rotation according to camera's position sensor, of which you are not aware most of the time. It is a very inefficient solution for someone who does take a lot of pictures.

I don't mind either Picasa or iPhoto but I've never figured out what people are talking about when they say Picasa does more than iPhoto. Can someone highlight the differences?

Anyone tried it yet? I use bridge / photoshop / flickr + finder / preview - used to like this for PC though. Never been able to get to grips with iphoto.

I use it to catalog snapshots and family photos to keep them separate from the work I do in lightroom. The gmail integration is makes sharing snaps with family super EZ, even my mom has it dialed.

Been waiting for a very long time for this. I just got a mac about 2 mos ago and have been getting familiar with iPhoto but missing many features from Picasa. Now I'm just seeing what's new in iPhoto before I install.

why not use Adobe Bridge?

It's great for the PC.
I love it.
