from what I understand a 2 weeks notice is the standard and if you really want to leave in good grace, a month's notice would be better.
has anyone here left with less than 2 weeks heads up without necessarily burning any bridges OR you just didn't give a fuck about it and just peace out of the place?

Give two weeks or more. Trust me.

I've only given 2 weeks at every job I have left.
Why prolong the time when you know your not going to do jack anyway.

I did, they already knew I was looking and there was a lull in the work load.

Every time I've left, I've left in good grace with a months notice. If you don't have to sour your relationship with your previous boss/employees then don't, simple as that.

I think it's more political than anything else....
I hate those last two weeks where you quit, but are forced to hang out....it's usually awkward...especially if they don't want you to leave.
A month seems like a bit much to me, unless there is some big project you are working on or leaving any earlier would leave them high and dry.

i've given a month's before as well and the transition went alright, since it was enough time as well to help get a replacement. but i can see the bullshit time spent in a place you don't want to be in and can't give two shits about a reference from anyways

Don't burn ur bridges, whatever you do...two weeks seems like a minimum...but why not just ask them if leaving earlier than two weeks would be a problem...be honest...good luck man.

i've given a week's notice and also quit on the spot. if you want to give 2 weeks and be respectful, make sure the company respects you as well. if not, do what's convenient.
