so, heres my issue. went down to get a new laptop the other day. planning on getting the fancy new 15" mbp, got to the store and they have a 17" mbp on sale for the same price as the 15"...so of course i buy it, get it home, tear it open and its the old style, which apparently makes sense because the new style 17" arent even out yet...dammit! so, heres the issue. do i keep the 17" even thought its not the new fancy one, or try to sell it and buy the 15" fancy one? that being asked, does anyone want to buy a 17" mbp? haha, im floundering a little here. They new styles arent that much better are they? Thanks.

- dewilde0

The picture on the box didn't give it away?
- uberdesigner0
just take it back. the new gen has two videocards
- dewilde0
haha, right...the picture on the box. i think i was a little overzealous, and didnt spend much time taking in the packaging...
- uberdesigner0
didn't spend time looking at the packaging? are you sure you're a mac user?
- dewilde0
haha, apparently not....im pretty pissed at myself for not even thinking and just tearing into it.

The new 17" MBPs are here now though - if you really wanted the bigger lappy. The 8 hours of battery charge is fairly excellent in my opinion.

if you buy online from macmall or whoever you can save some money and get some extra stuff thrown in.

you should really hold out for this. one button and a scroll wheel is the way of the future:

I was going to wait for the newest 17" but I figured it would be too large (it's supposed to be portable)
- that is my thought too, I am even considering the 13"epete22
- 13" would be too small for me. I use it for graphics. Need to see everything.uberdesigner

Also I call bullshit on Apple's claim that the 17" has 8 hrs of battery life. Maybe 18 hrs running on sleep, but not 18hrs of editing, photoshop, or 3d.

- Did you watch the video about their new battery technology?
I doubt they say that stuff if it's way off.NotByHand - Also, I've had a 17" for a couple of years - not really that much bigger than a 15" (imo).NotByHand
- i hadn't heard that claim. how much battery life have you been gettting, uber?armsbottomer
- I get about 2.5 hours I think, never timed it.uberdesigner
- and that's running lightwave/photoshop...uberdesigner

here's a stupid question...if I wipe down my mbp with windex will it stain the metal?
- ok_not_ok0
I'm waiting for the 21" MBP.
