Obama or not, It is what it always is, a political show designed to steer people's emotions. I find it interesting how advertising industry people who work on propaganda daily can be moved by this kind of stuff. It is what it is - words, meant to be uplifting and set ratings high.
If people feel better after it, it's good. It's good when spirits are cheerful, isn't it.My Obama pronouncing every word so even immigrants (and me) could understand comment was a technical one - the guy is a pro, actually the world's top pro. He needs to speak this way. He also makes this rap a way to sound pompously dignified - two goals achieved in one rap. Good for him.
His whole campaign rewrote propag err.. marketing textbooks no matter how it goes from here. I find it fascinating too.
- Still better than Bush.Jaline
- most people have better public speaking skills than Bushslinky
- Thanks for that analysis. Are you, by any chance, Vulcan?ItTango
- Who would you vote for then?Jaline
- I don't see Bush and Obama as opposites, but of course there's hoping the latter is the lesser evil.rafalski
- This is so much more than "the lesser evil". Sometimes Cynicism just blows. It's not always clever or insightful. Just the fear of Optimism.ItTango
- the fear of Optimism.ItTango
- I'd vote Ron Paul. He advocated freedom, Obama said again today freedom was a danger.rafalski
- (sigh!) As in freedom is dangerous to those who wish to oppress... to deny it (freedom).ItTango
- "without a watchful eye, the market can spin out of control".
This clearly sounds like more regulation to me.rafalski - you are an interesting person, rafalskisputnik2
- (i meant that in the best of ways)
=)sputnik2 - More regulation? There has been practically none! Have u been paying attention?ItTango
- I don't think he has.DrBombay
- Sorry, I was busy blushing after Sputnik's comment..rafalski
- When government backs banks it's a huge interference as it removes a healthy risk and causes careless behaviors.rafalski
- This was the case with Freddie and Fannie, an economically absurd situation where ppl got houses despite not being able..rafalski
- ..to afford them.rafalski
- Government caused the crisis by messing with the self regulating market. Well see more of that I'm afraid.rafalski
- +10 for rafalski. they create the problem and then present themselves as the solution. it's crazy.sputnik2

soooo does anyone hate him yet?
- Not so fast, look at Bono, he maintained god status for well over a decade before he gained popular hate.rafalski
- I hope so. Haters keep you on top of your game.ItTango
- redstate.com is crashing with the commentary of hate...TheBlueOne

that's predictably cynical rafalski. would never have expected that...
- pretty accurate by my guesstimationKwesiJ
- Sorry kelpie, I can help I believe trusting (any) politician is as smart as falling in love with a prostitute.rafalski
- raf is rawdskz
- Is it cynical to judge by results, not words and intentions? So far this man backed $trillion hookers money for bankers.rafalski

'better than bush' in the most poltically superficial sense possible
- Your comment = Superficial.ItTango
- I could get into a million reasons why Obama is still better than most of the people from before, but we've done thatJaline
- (and I don't feel particularly well today)Jaline
- agreed. now turn off the computer, grab a nap and join us when you're better.ItTango
- whatever reason you can muster i'd garuntee you'd negate the fact that he's a a mere figure head for a corrupt megalomanic empireKwesiJ
- ...megalomanic empire.KwesiJ
- Perhaps you could couple your meandering rhetoric with some concrete examples.ItTango
- wall street just paid 170 million for a rock concert in his name while millions just lost their jobs and they're backing a genocideKwesiJ
- ...genocide finacilaly an politically.KwesiJ
- i HOPE you're not of the illusion this man is somehow in charge, ya right he makes any choices.KwesiJ
- Yeah. That's it. Then why even vote. Why give a shit? I'm SO SICK of this "nothing will ever work" BULLSHIT!ItTango
- It is so easy to believe in nothing. The way out for the lazy bastards who's only mantra is "I told you so".ItTango
- What will you do if something actually turns out right? Slit your wrists?ItTango
- because i bring some sense of sobriety to this obama charade all of a sudden 'nothing will work'?KwesiJ
- dude its thinking clearly and critically about the power structures of a country that MAKES CHANGE!KwesiJ
- Thinking clearly is having realistic expectations about the road ahead. No. He is not a miracle worker.ItTango
- References to only "superficial" differences to Bush or that idea that he is simplyItTango
- a figure head with no decision making authority is very different. It implies despair. Hopelessness.ItTango
- he's a figure head admit it. instating this guy as pres and giving him all this attention is a bold PR move by the us gov. and the corporations it plays with.KwesiJ
- ...and the corporations they work with. This has nothing to do with emotions it may reflect its a fact of the matter.KwesiJ
- understanding this should be empowering...is to me anyway.KwesiJ
- so you're just making this up as you go, eh? where's the proof in anything you say?ItTango

Is it just me, or was it Roberts who messed up the oath, and not Obama? Wasn't he supposed to pause after "I, Barack Hussein Obama..." and let Obama repeat that part?

I thought the first time when Obama paused he had blanked on what to say. Now I'm wondering if he was waiting for Roberts to correct himself, "President TO the United States" is obviously not the right line.
- He was politely waiting for Roberts to correct himself. Obama knew the line was delivered to him wrong.ghandolf
