I heard this was costing the US $170 Million. If that's true then he's off to a great start.

The Inauguration committee took donations, security may have been paid for by tax dollars, but that just makes sense.
http://ydr.inyork.com/ci_1146154…Donors to the Presidential Inaugural Committee
U.S. President Barack Obama's Inauguration committee has disclosed the names of all donors. Obama's group has limited contributions to the inauguration when compared to President George Bush, who raised $42.8 million for his 2005 swearing-in. As in his presidential campaign, Obama has also banned contributions from corporations, political action committees, registered lobbyists, foreigners and registered foreign agents. The inauguration will be held Jan. 18-21, highlighted by the Jan. 20 swearing-in ceremony.I am so sick and tired of people spouting off bullshit 'facts' without knowing just what it is that they are talking about. If you don't klnow what you are talking about, leave it to people who do. Not really calling you out d_dot more like the conservatives jags that brought it up yesterday.

On MSNBC, Tom Brokaw just made the commentary: "Well, it looks like hats are back in fashion..."
Thanks Tom.

... this is a mad waste, folks - there is no need to have a 2-day event full of concerts and shit with this high a price tag - ESPECIALLY given the current situation w/the bail-outs etc...

Seriously, read up on where he's getting some of the money, and his concept behind the ceremony before complaining too much.

More insights from Tom Brokaw: "The hand warming industry has done very well here today, all the guests were handed them on their way to their seats...."
So there you go, hats and hand warmers.
