the brief was; more arty with a byron colour flavour.
I won’t quote the whole email for obvious reasons, but that was the extent of the brief.

Oh.. I meant, if THEY (the client) have a website at the moment - where I can the current version of their brand. Or is it a new brand all together?
- No website. That was going to be part of the long-term rebranding, I think. Don’t quote me.MrOneHundred

"more arty with a byron colour flavour."
'More arty' than what?
And what's a 'byron colour flavour'?

I don't mean to on going (if it's annoying to you)... I just get so irritated when clients communicate like this.

- That’s cool. I know it just seems that nobody cares enough until it’s too late.MrOneHundred

It’s a re-branding. They are quite a big player in the music biz – they do what they do very well. I think they have just been so busy doing that that they haven’t had time to focus on their visual identity. It really required much more pre-planning than what we did – it was all done over the phone, almost as an afterthought. Trying not to be critical of them as they have been mentioned by name on here and I don’t want any repercussions.
- Fair enough. I totally get it.

Apparently they are going to send through a brief today (?). My boss is going to see what can be salvaged considering how much work we have put in. I really thought I at least got into the ballpark with those...
- Well, without a real brief... hopefully this will clarify things. Good luck.NotByHand

So we just got the brief (they swear they faxed it through late last year). Totally the opposite of what was discussed. And seemingly designed to render obsolete every part of every concept I have given them so far. I am leaving it to my boss to work out what, if any, financial arrangements considerations to be raised.

Thats a shame man, the three you posted in the end were really cool, each one had something good going on. I do hate those limited briefs, always leads to 'but we thought you'd be creative / we know what we like when we see it' kinds on conversations later.
Be happy with your solutions though, as they are lovely. And you can always try to poke the client in the eye later on.
- Thanks guys.I have asked that this thread be deleted, as I think I have said too much.MrOneHundred
