Hi all,
Anyone know if you can disable the 'pinch' zoom, rotate etc feature in the late 2008 macbook pros? It's REALLY annoying that on Illy, PS and Indesign this has effect not only on the document window but also on items such as text boxes etc etc... ARGHHHH!
Google ain't helping either...
Thanks

System Preferences > Trackpad
You really not looked in there already?

i can't seem to find an option that disables it...

Well, almost there but not quite. There's this app called MultiClutch
http://wcrawford.org/2008/02/28/…
that allows you to control multitouch functions but doesn't disable them...
*sigh*

Does this mean you're designing with the trackpad?

how can you possibly design anything using a trackpad? the least user friendly control of a computer.
Plug a damn mouse or tablet into your laptop!

no no no... when not using a mouse, i use a pen tablet on one hand and the trackpad on the other to do stuff like scroll etc. However sometimes when im in those programs, the trackpad use interferes with the actual program tools...
Try having a textbox selected in INdesign and do the magic finger rotate *by mistake*....

Weird, my MacBook Pro has multi-touch, but it only works with Apple applications (Finder, Preview, etc...). Adobe CS3 doesn't seem to support it. Maybe it's just a CS4 thing?

This could be. went straight to running cs4 on this new machine so can't say for any other version...

When I first use the new mac book pro I thought the track pad was a good idea and fun the use, it was only when I started PS and other apps I released what a Pile of crap it turn the user experiance into.

The multi-touch gesture with the new trackpad does present problems for PS. There currently is no option short of disabling all OpenGL drawing features in CS4. Sorry that we didn't have or know about the new hardware during development. We used the MacBook Air as a test platform. We have a bug logged into Apple to investigate. Note that Safari also inadvertently zooms. For many users the sensitivity of the track pad in the area that used to be a "dead" physical button is triggering an unintended 2 finger gesture.

glad to hear other people are having this same issue - though i don't use the track pad to design often, when traveling i lose my mind while using PS because i keep zooming in & out of screens & rotating shit ... so annoying
