Scrambled FLV

I'm working on a small video based site this month. It hosts about 10 large videos. Going through tests, I decided they looked best at 700kbps, variable bitrate (VBR) and they are 800x450. The rub is that we're looping the videos and in Flash player 9 124 every so often things go crazy as you can see below:
I *think* I have solved this on the video end, rendering them at a constant bit rate (CBR) but as anyone with a bit of knowledge about this, the files are a bit larger in size and some of the higher motion videos suffer a bit.
Has anyone experienced this before and if so, is CBR vs. VBR really the issue here? Is it part of the issue or am I totally off track?

If they're scrambled, pour some ketchup, salt and pepper on them , then bon appetit HAHAHAHHAHAHA (shoot me)
But seriously, you say that "every so often" this happens? Meaning that sometimes it loops fine, without this distortion? Because that would say to me that it may not be the FLV (if it acted this way every time i would say it's definately the FLV). Maybe the way the player you are displaying it in is having trouble? IDK
- ketchup on eggs?
I'll shoot you for that.. sure. :)PonyBoy - Are you averse to ketchup on hot dogs too? Are you one of THOSE people? The Anti-ketchupeticslocustsloth
- Ketchup on eggs rocks!utopian

Possible system processes in the background causing hiccups from time to time?
If it's working fine and only act out of line 'every so often' - I think your video is probably fine...
A question though - are you controlling the Flv's w/actionscript or have they been place on a timeline and are just looping?

I've gotten that sometimes with FLV's and QTs. What's the frame rate and what are the dimensions of the video? Have alpha transparency? Might be the Flash Player trying to display the frame but is not able to keep up. Might be a CPU/video card issue and not the FLV... maybe test in on a higher end and crappy computer and see what happens...
- i.e. too much motion and not encoded for lots of motion...fyoucher1

i get that occasionally too, it's definitely the encoding of the FLV. haven't really found a solution yet, usually just end up re-rendering the source file
...sorry, nothing useful to add here...

fyoucher1, here are some additional details and what I have tried:
- Video is 800x450.. QT 1024x576 h264 -> FLV
- Encoded using both Sorenson Squeeze Pro & Adobe Media encoder
- Tried VBR & CBR at both 1 & 2 Pass
- Tried everything from 400kbps - 1500kbpsSuggestions if any?? I'm about to shoot myself. As for the AS, I have tried straight seek(0) and using pause/seek/resume with no effect. :(

Have you tried going straight from the video to FLV and making it 800x450. Or scale it up with Sorenson? That way you could eliminate the upscaleing/converting to h264 process as a culprit.

locustsloth, I think I'm reading this wrong. I'm not sure what you mean but maybe you can clear that up for me... here is exactly the process. The source video we were given from the client is 1024x576 h264. We don't have anything raw or uncompressed if that's what you are hinting at?
From there I'm rendering straight out to FLV where the resize is happening. Are you suggesting I resize in QT and then just do the encoding to FLV? Seems like a stretch but anything is possible at this point I guess. Was that what you meant?
- To further clarify, we want to use it at 800x450.mrbee2828
- Sorry, i thought you were going from 800x450 TO 1024x576. Nevermind melocustsloth

I remember when I've gotten those pink pixilated screens before....it was because of the alpha channel. Think I just resaved out the QT as a new file and then reencoded the FLV with the new file...used an uncompresssed QT or AVI. So maybe just go into AE and save out that H264 file to something else. Time for sleep.

I'll check it out.. thanks for everyone's help thus far!

Here is yet imponderable.... is there anything related to the F9 player that would cause this? I haven't seen it happen in F10. This could totally be related to F9 for all I know.
