I want to hire an illustrator to help me create a series of short animated videos for online viewing. I want him to keep all of the ownership rights in regard to his illustrations, but I want the rights to the sound and animation parts of the project that I create. In other words the video portion.
Is this sort of agreement common? Would you illustrators be open to this or would you consider it a work-for-hire project?

I'm an illustrator & have done animated TV commercials.
I drew pics, they animated them & we have a licence agreement
for the length of time ads will run for. Any longer & we renegotiate.
Ownership of the drawings isn't an issue & I can use ads
for promo & on my website.
Does this help?
