Cinema 4D keyframe travesty again

Why is it that I can only change key frame values by changing numbers in the timeline editor or by manipulating F Curves?
Every time I try to move something in the scene, it snaps back no matter what. This is ok for some simple movements, but now I'm trying to move my camera and the number fiddling is taking hours where minutes should do.
I'm using C4D 10.5 on a Mac.

are you using the model tool instead of the object tool?
- CyBrain0
Oh, good. Now, when I try to render my movie, it says
Unable to write file. Thanks for getting me fired, Maxon.

if you can recreate the problem in a new project, feel free to email it to me and i'll see if i have the same problems. what version are you running? r11?

I am using 10.5 Check your email. Thanks.
Does 11 have a more stable timeline editor?

Is C4D worth learning? I'm a print designer and I thought it'd be useful to do concept renders for packaging. I do a lot of work designing bottles and drink packaging in Illustrator.
- 3D is pretty deep. it's certainly capable of doing that. try the demo to see if you two hit it off.demafleez

i see you have particles there at the bottom of your object manager. I know that if you don't run your animation from the top of the timeline, funkyness can ensue.
try disabling/turning off the particles and see if your problem persists. Also, you might wanna bake the particles so it's not getting recalculated everytime

I had to turn off the particles while working. They are very hard on the processor. I will move them up in the object manager and see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the tip.

the 'unable to write file' error usually means the file you're writing is in use, it happens to me in c4d when i export a .mov, import it into ae and then try to re-render the same file from c4d...
i forget what the tool is but if you hit the space bar it switches modes and keyframing is easier for me in that mode...
things like particles and dynamics, things that are dependent on time-based calculations need to be played from frame 0...

Turns out my program needed installing. I got C4D 11 and all the key frame issues are gone. Thanks for all the tips along the way.
