... wrote an email to us telling us that he only guarantees compatibility for IE7. He said "IE6 is dead" and "I don't offer compatibility for it anymore" and said "good luck" finding somebody that does. The January 2009 w3c stats for IE6 still show it at 18.5%. Are wrong to expect our clients stuff to work on IE6, and almost everything else?

As a Developer myself ... I stand behind their decision.
It is a lot easier to not care about IE6 ... or IE in general.
From their perspective their reasons are the same as anyone getting into a job ... if you don't want the headache, put it out in the air. If you care, then they won't accept the work - if you don't, they will.
