For free wifi -- go to EXKI restaurants -- all near subway stops.

Mer du Nord / Nordzee on Sainte Catherine square. It's a bar protruding from a seafood store, not sure if it's open outside weekends (I was there on a Sunday). Excellent yet cheap seafood, live music, wine..
I would go back to Brussels just to have some scampi a la plancha there again.http://www.poissonneriemerdunord…
It's located next to a popular and excellent pub which name I can't remember now.- plz no.digdre

this from the girlfriend, who went to grad school there:
"go to the brocante at the place jeux de balles on sunday morning, and that they just opened the new magritte museum last year at the place des beaux arts, and that the area around the grand sablon is great for wandering fancy art galleries and antique stores. and if they're going to the fish market at saint catherine (as previously recommended) they should also check out the designer stores on the rue dansaert and the nightlife around les halles."

I now remember the name of the bar next to Mer du Nord / Nordzee: it's Monk and it's well worth a visit.

You can go check Alice Galerie (http://www.alicebxl.com/) and some other nice shops around.
For having some tasty belgium beers,
Le Belga (http://www.cafebelga.be/),
Le Pantin (http://www.cityplug.be/fr/Bruxe...
Chez Moeder Lambic (http://www.fra.cityvox.be/bars...
And I agree with DoubleKing gf : go to the brocante at the place du jeu de balles on sunday morning!!
And for the nightlife :
Le Recyclart (http://www.recyclart.be/) (+ some cool shops around there)
Le Tavernier (http://www.le-tavernier.be/)
Bon appetit !!
