I just got it a few weeks ago and did the 4GB Ram upgrade and a larger hard drive. No complaints. Oh wait... I would suggest getting the WIRED keyboard. I sprung the extra for the wireless and it is not the extended keyboard, therefore, no extra USB ports (Which I know would defeat the purpose of wireless) But if you have more than three USB peripherals, you're going to be swapping out all the time.

I will agree (redundantly) that the 24" will make your life better.

"And don't by RAM through Apple. Get it 3rd party."Why not?

- I realise we have had this conversation before but I think it depends what you buy...Raniator
- The margin is less these days now they are putting more RAM in as standard.Raniator

Mono,
I looked to upgrade my RAM when I bought my new MBP.
To have 4GB – cost an extra £100 from apple, that's 2x 2BGB sticks
To buy 4GB from Crucial cost £104 that's 2x 2BGB sticks (that was at the time of purchase though so Silicon may of dropped since then)
- Dancer0
The problem is that when you buy a MBP, for example, with just 2GB they fill both slots, therefore you cannot buy just another 2GB but 4GB.
It maybe different with an imac...
- nope, only 2 spots there too.akrokdesign
- same issue.akrokdesign

Dancer,
Crucial sells RAM for much less than that. If you buy chips from them that say "for the iMac" you'll pay up the ass. If you simply shop by the exact chip specifications, you'll pay much less. That's a fact.

Apple: $300 for 4GB
Newegg: $71 for 4GB
So what are you talking about, Dancer?- Och, Mac's blowJie_P
- no they don't!
it's all the same RAM you ignorant bastardmonospaced

OK, cool will have a look. I am not that versed in shopping for RAM this is just what I researched when I bought my MBP

So if anyone still cares they're saying a new iMac sometime late in the 1st quarter of '09 (March-ish). Guess I'll wait (and go 24").
