We're almost done with the first season. Really absorbing, so great.
One of the things I've noticed that I really like, and I don't know if this continues in the other seasons, but I like how very little violence there actually is. Everything is implied, or you get dropped in on the aftermath. That hit me when Omar's boyfriend got dumped on the car hood.
- you see more later on, but it's never gratuitous, never violence pornGreedo
- Good, the show relies entirely on storytelling and character that way.harlequino

only problem i found with this show, was after finishing season 5, you are left with a big empty space in your life that 'the wire' used to fill...
serious....try watching any other show after you've seen the wire...nothing holds up.
oh...
through a friend of a friend, i just got my Season 5 box signed by 'Gus'.....serious....blows my mind :) can't believe i got that dudes autograph on 'his' season ....

man, i REALLY have to be careful about reading other peoples comments. i already read one comment on another site that basically told me one character that was going to make it through till a certain season. haha, i don't want to know that shit!

Do the DVDs have commentary? By David Simon?
Watching them all via download, but I imagine his commentary might be pretty tight.

I saw an extra on one of the DVD's. he had a Q and A with some college class.. He has sooo much hatred for NY. So much contempt for the media and much more. Its worth looking up the extras.

Don't want to rain on everyone's parade....so I won't. It's absolutely fantastic and addictive (and I entered into watching being sceptical that something can't be THAT good as many said.)
Awesome

Anyone read David Simon's book "Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets?"
Promised myself no more books or crap to clutter up the house, but I am feeling that itch.

I can't wait until I'm done with Season 5 so I can start watching from Season 1 again
