- Hand dexterity on par with humans (sensing how solid, porous, slippery, elastic an object is) will take 100 years to achievedrgs
- I believe that such technological advances need some kind of catalyst.
development of robotics is pushed by many things from manufacturing to prosthetics.sted - Most of these non targeted developments are baby-steps that lead to a slow development like @drgs believes in.sted
- @scarabin i see 2-3 ways we can get to there: we fuck up the planet so much that we're required to build a proper robot to access some parts of it.sted
- everybody goes shit-craze about space and we need human like machines to explore and build habitats for the future.sted
- we are already on a designated path that results in the composition of a humanoid robot body and an interactive self-controlled operating system in the next 10ysted

- femtosecond lasers are the size of a cabinet
and reading/writing requires precision targeting.sted - the speed is impressive compared to the similar methods, 6gb write with 225k/s is still 7.5 hours :).
we won't see this tech working in our consumer products.sted - Actually it's scary because companies will be incentivised to keep ALL data forever
If there's a way, there's a will...grafician - The first computer filled the floor of an office building, proof they'd never amount to anything.i_monk

If you're using Apple-flavoured software, you should see a mac with 'hello', and on all other software, you should see a pc with 'IBM'.
