can someone please send me some link that dscuss this topic. My CD is convinced that a blog on our new site is gonna be the coolest thing ever. I disagree, but I have to come up with some pretty convincing evidence.
My way of thinking is to design a clean non cluttered site and the work should speak for itself.
His way is that the site needs a concept, a grand idea, something never seen before blah blahblah.help.

I always thought Organic's blog was decent: http://threeminds.organic.com/

Coolest thing ever? Not a chance but it will give you some credibility.
Just be warned - having a blog is like having a pet. You better care for it, feed it and walk it otherwise it will die.Try one of these:

Why would you be against having a blog as a section of your firms site?
Makes little sense—seeing that a well-managed and run blog can only do good, by promoting completed work, upcoming jobs, opinions on our industry, etc.
When executed properly, they only help, not hinde
- well-managed and run blog... thats the problem, it wont beimnotadesigner
- "a well-managed and run blog" exactly the problemo. It wont be well managedimnotadesigner

Does he have a goal for it? Not the coolest thing ever (might have been several years ago), but can be handy for talking about work or displaying ptiched work or work-progress in a casual way, or sharing tech experiments, stuff like that. But it's helpful to have a clear idea of what it's supposed to do for you as an agency.

The firm I used to work at had a blog. Basically, there were 15 designers there, and only one person ever submitted content (initially our copywriter, and then me). Other than that, I agree, not the coolest thing ever, but, you know, they can work.
- Basically meant to say that this can become a problem (with only one person writing content).skwiotsmith

http://www.analogue.ca/blog/We kept it external, seeing that this was 4 years ago that we started our blog.
In the coming version of our studio's site, the blog will be integrated into the site structure, instead of residing outside...

My thing against it is that it takes dedication to maintain. Our agency is like a sweatshop, if you hours aren't billable they get pissed.
I can just picture someone updating the blog and getting shit on for it.

my website is a blog. not that I agree with the idea.

I've like this integration since they relaunched: http://www.teehanlax.com/

Now, I really like this...

Like imnotadesigner says "My thing against it is that it takes dedication to maintain"...
but a few hours each month to update isn't gonna kill.
I think a blog helps to show the "personality" of the agency (showing the non-work stuff). Also, I think it's less stuffy, far more accessible.
And what's the point in having technology which lets you make live and constant updates, but you only update a few times a year?
- What font have they used for the headers? looks noice :-)Not_Just_Another
