"What's a good Japanese Restaurant? "
Here's a few suggestions somewhat off the beaten path:For Ramen:
Ippudo: http://www.ippudo.com/ny/
Go early, it gets packed - really really packed, like an hour and half wait for a table. No reservations, but best Ramen in town. For traditional Japanese grilled tapas:
Aburiya Kinnosuke
http://aburiyakinnosuke.com/abur…
Just went to this place last week. Fucking awesome. You will most likely be the only gaijin in there. Great cocktails and sake as well. Or try their sister Yakitori place here: http://aburiyakinnosuke.com/tott…Other than that you can get the usual sushi recs from the usual sources..
- I think Ippudo really depends on who you ask. But I prefer the same.JSK
- And japanese wife doesnt add street credJSK
- I love ippudo but i love setagaya as well.....mmmm now i am hungrypixellette
- Setagaya is good, I prefer Ippudo though...TheBlueOne
- ...I thought Setagaya was waaaay too salty last two times I wentTheBlueOne
- strange thats how i felt with ippudo last time!!!pixellette

IMHO head straight to any of the Momofuku restaurants.
And there is too much to see and do in Manhattan to be going to the movies.
I always recommend people pick up a copy of Time Out NY. It has a gazillion listings with clear info on location.
- I find the momfuku places hipster central. Not a fan.TheBlueOne
- Who cares who eats there....it's all about the food.chuparosa
