off the top of my head I thought of Tampa, but what's a good county to live it. I did some research and a few options I came up with are clearwater, saint pete and tarpon springs. But if you know a good little area let me know.
Also this has nothing to do with working more of a vacation type home.

St. Pete is good or if you have the cash Captiva Island. Seminole Heights also has been on the upswing for investment properties in that area. Especially the bungalows. Bump this on Monday as well and ask OSFA. He just left Tampa for Miami.
- maybe I'll be the wrong person to ask. I couldn't take it anymore.OSFA

I've lived in Orlando (2 years) and Sarasota (10 years). Orlando sucks big time. Sarasota is beautiful but very expensive. There are some great beaches there. I love the whole southwestern coast personally. The Sannibel / Captiva area is great. Also the Keys are gorgeous, particularly the middle and lower Keys. I would avoid Tampa, although there are some nice places in the St Pete area like Gulfport, Clearwater and St Pete beach area.

I live in downtown St. Pete. It's nice (for Florida) but if you're looking for more of a vacation home I'd stay away from most of the bigger cities. Most of Tampa (Hillsborough County) is a waste of time, but Pinellas County (St Pete, Tarpon, Clearwater) is nicer. Dunedin, Safety Harbor and Gulfport are the best towns in the county. The Gulf coast is generally pretty nice from Sarasota south. Sanibel, Captiva, Pine Island, Longboat Key and Siesta Key are my top pics for beaches. Key West is overcrowded, even in the summer. I'm not really a fan of the east coast, save for a few cities like St Augustine and parts of Miami. And Orlando really is awful.
