Pretty interesting for those who don't know much about the work of Lacaton & Vassal, à la “Never demolish, never remove or replace, always add, transform, and reuse!”

The Department of Architecture welcomed architects Thom Mayne and Wolf D. Prix on August 28, 2019. The conversation was held in Meyerson Hall.
Thom Mayne is the Founder and Design Director of Morphosis and Cret Chair Professor of Practice at the Weitzman School of Design.
Wolf D. Prix is the Co-Founder, Design Principal, and CEO of COOP HIMMELB(L)AU. This fall he will be teaching a 700-level studio at the Weitzman School.
- Glad to see T.Mayne (my thesis advisor) more these days. Haven't hear of Prix/Coop Himmelblau in decades tho. Thanks for posting, looking forward to watching.formed

Interesting on Gare Du Nord in Paris and how architecture is often compromised by the people required to fund it. The whole area sounds kind of of similar to the situation at Kings Cross in London 10 yrs ago.

- modern/minimal designs go back to mid century. Shipping containers are/have been a fad, mostly.formed
- The cost to convert them is about the same as building from scratch (any pre-fab is like that, more or less).formed
- Love it.
Boring bland box might be boring, but it's a far sight better than my 26m2 one-room flat.Continuity - Here's some bandages for when your kids smash into all those edges.BusterBoy

- This is pretty standard here. Builders would rather trash the whole thing but historical board rules make them keep the facade at minimumGnash
- Some executions are pretty thoughtlessGnash
- I understand and appreciate the idea of it - when done well - but this <here is just ridiculous. What's the point in doing it badly?Nairn
- They just don’t care. For speculators It’s just a needed check mark - cheaper and faster the better. This is a failure of local govGnash
- ... for approving itGnash
- This one looks pretty cool
