i have no idea what i'm looking for here, but i have a song (in mp3 format) that i want to 'edit'. re-arrange parts of the song, maybe lay some samples over it, i don't know.. but i don't want something that's difficult to learn. i want to do this in like an hour or two. recommendations?
pc or mac, cheap or free, blonde or brunette.

I like Sony ACID the best (it's like a cheaper version of ProTools).
ProTools is great if you have the loot.
Sony SoundForge is good too.Adobe Soundbooth is shit b/c you can only work with one layer/track.
After Effects works and 'can' do the trick. Use this if you already have AE and don't want to spend the loot on other software.

If you are on a Mac you should have Garageband. That's easy.

- yeah, i've never played with it. looked cumbersome. i'll check it out though.SteveJobs

audacity can do multiple tracks (more than stereo). garage band is pretty easy if you've got it though.
