read the fucking manual, it's so annoying when I have to read “...I have two Mac's...” and similar idiocy.

I have two Mac's....
could be read as
I have two Macintoshs
( Showing omission of letters in those rules)- ok, although it really hurts, because a Mac is a Mac nowadays. What about iPod's?jimbojones
- lol:) anyway, you are right, it's just bad grammar and it's sad. I try to get it right (and english is not my first language)uan
- Never use an apostrophe when you're just trying to make something plural, even acronyms.monospaced

Do you say CDs or DSLRs to make a plural of them?
- YES!. You never under any circumstances use an apostrophe for plurals.CyBrain
- of course, what else?monospaced

For fuck's sake.

There is no need for apostrophes indicating a plural on capitalized letters, numbers, and symbols (though keep in mind that some editors, teachers, and professors still prefer them).
But I would still write CDs DVDs etc.: no apostrophe after caps, the lc s is visible enough.

It bugs me a lot less if people use wrong quotes (only online though). Maybe because it's not that obvious. But things like the dubious apostrophe, or mixed up to and too make me cringe...

- Not only are the apostrophes not necessary, they're drawn incorrectly as wellmonospaced

I agree, an unnecessary apostrophe, or a missing one, are huge pet peeves and always, without fail, make the person responsible look like an idiot. Another punctuation issue that really gets me: http://www.qbn.com/topics/582045…

What really kills me is the New York Time of all the possible places makes it a habit of misusing the apostrophe. ie - G.I.'s, DVD's, etc. I wrote to them, but got no response.
- In articles written by their reporters? I don't believe it.monospaced
- also, you're missing a couple of commasmonospaced

^ that's pretty standard for stuff like that. or writing 8's and 9's.
- No, that's incorrect. The standard is, and always has been, no apostrophe.monospaced
