I find the large agencies used to fuck around a lot because they made mega bucks. But not so much these days..
I guess you could call where I work (we have 12 staff) controlled chaos. There is a method to the madness :)

I think agencies go through phases.... for a while, they're great, clearly thinking, creatively working, and makeing things that work, then over time, some random ego oddness takes over sometimes and they become chaotic and strange, some recover nicely, others don't
has alot to do with clients, business strategy and how the creative staff and the account staff may or may not live on different planets

Some agencies are like baseball players, when they're at bat, they may strike out now and then, but a home run will keep them in business for a while.
But some projects are like being in the field, where the idea is to make no mistakes, catch everything and never drop the ball.....
I think chaos ensues when half the agency thinks they're at bat and the other half thinks they're in the field.
