Saw it last night
meh
Wrath of Khan was about about a billion times better than this "Lens flare: the motion picture"
It was ok...but the character development was rushed & forced...even ridiculous at times.
The villan was probably the weakest star trek villan ever (in the movies at least)...I never watched the show
It was ok...but I guess the overhype machine made me expect something truly great.
All in all...I had a LOT more fun with Wolverine...maybe because my expectations for it were so low.
All in all...I wouldn't watch again...and for me that's dissapointing.
Ah well....NEXT..Terminator......lo... like it may have the goods
- You liked Wolderine more than Star Trek? You clearly have no idea what a good movie is.CygnusZero4

I thought it was good but not as good as everyone else and not as bad as marychain.
- I'm not calling it bad.
I give it a C+marychain - I'd call a C+ bad.Jnr_Madison

Saw this last night.
I thought it was good.It was entertaining with out being to geeky.
I liked how the characters used some of the original iconic phrases from the series.

I saw it in IMAX
Never again will I watch any movie the same way. Regular theatres just don't compare
A recurring theme was Kirk getting punched in the face.
A LOTSomeone obviously enjoys seeing him with blood on his face
- Did it contain the standard fog machine / laser intro???!!!ideaist

Finally saw this last night at the flicks.
Pretty good - 'best' ST movie yet, but I found the story arc overly predictable, the conclusion obvious and that, overall, everything was a little too easy - though if they're intent on following this one up with a few more in the same vein, I guess it makes for a harmless Origins tale.
Whilst it was amusing that the obligatory RedShirt got nuked on an away mission - wtf? these are supposed to be super-trained futurubermensch - no way it's conceivable the lead soldier would play reckless like that. Silly.
I have to say, as much as I love Simon Pegg, I was thoroughly irritated by his typically English (ie. wholly inaccurate and very crappy) attempt at a Scottish accent. Didn't like his cutesy little friend either. I thought we'd learnt that lesson after the fucking ewoks and Jar-Jar.
As for canon - what the fuck?! They left Vulcan obliterated?! There was no 'fixing' of the normal time line? No no no, sirs... WRONG!
Also, what was with the blur-focus on the majority of the Older Spock shots? It just didn't make sense - it was either some horrific oversight, or a really bad attempt at soft focus sentimentality.
Oh, and - Uhura and oldenWinona, HOTT.
- +1 on Simon Peggs accent, it was really bad. Mind you, I think only Scottish people will have a problem with it.Jnr_Madison
- i thought uhura was hideousscarabin

Oh, ginger green chick too.
Fuck me, I had unnatural feelings towards her.
- totally natural to be attracted to an alien with basically the same body as yourselfversion3
- Mein Gott! I have green breasts and curvaceous thighs?!
*strips naked, only to be sorely disappointed*Nairn - No, no..they are totally natural. It's ok.TheBlueOne

wrath of Khan was way more amazing. probably the best to date, but this one was not terrible.
- Those old star trek movies were just way too over-the-top silly in every way. The acting was awful.CygnusZero4

Absolutely loved it, lens flares and all. Just great, joy-filled storytelling and filmaking.

I went and saw this during the week with someone who'd never seen anything to do with Star Trek before. In fact she even said she hated Sci-Fi. But we both thoroughly enjoyed the flick, I know not to expect Oscar-winning performances from something like this, it was just a really enjoyable romp.
Chekhov's replacement - cool
Simon Pegg as Scotty - cool
McCoy - not so great, didn't get into it
Uhura - hot, plays more of a rolel in the movie than she ever did in the old ones
Spock - it's hard to forget the dude was Sylar from Heroes, but he does the 'logic' thing alright...
Kirk - I don't think they could've picked anyone better, he has all the youthful hallmarks of the original Kirk in the TV series. Swashbuckling hero that thinks with his dick.
Nero - Eric Bana disappoints again. Hasn't done a good role since 'Chopper' or Black Hawk Down.

I always wondered why the enterprise didn't use nuclear weapons rather than some dinky photon torpedoes that don't do shit.

Seems like a lot of pompus designer types like to trash basically anything that's popular. Star Trek is a good movie. Simple as that. It has like a 95% approval rating on rottentomatoes. Those are all professional movie reviews, and basically almost all of them love it. Get over yourselves already.

Any watchers of "Lost" notice the little dramatic editing thing JJ Abrams seems to like to do?
At the beginning when Kirk's father is the last on the ship and he's talking with his wife and she's havin baby Kirk an all - we have that sequence as he's fighting off the bad guy and she's giving birth...all the sound kicks out and it's only the swelling of the music score. Lots of tense editing back and forth, fireballs and stuff.
Did that feel familiar? Happens on pivotal episodes of "Lost," and I'd be curious to go back and see if he did that on "Alias" too. Seems like a signature thing of his to really frame the "moment in which nothing will ever be the same," where several characters are going through changes that affect the whole storyline.
Wife and I kinda giggled about it, we both looked at each other and said "We're watching Lost!"

when kirk sr was crashing into the mining ship, why didn't he go to warp?
- Because warp goes through subspace, durr.
(I have no idea)Nairn - I would've believed it********
- prolly cuz the bad guy blew the shit out of his shipharlequino
