How much do you have in your savings account. I know some are paycheck to paycheck, but this coworker of mine really saved a lot because that bastard lives at home.

I'm trying to plan for my future and potential children.

Usually keep about 10k in savings (for vacations and other unnecessary things), everything else goes to other investment accounts, SEP IRA / retirement, and my daughters college savings.

-$6.27... I recently emptied it out as work was scarce... didn't realize you had to keep a bit of a balance... fuckers hit me with a monthly maintenance fee and have put me in the negative

Saving money is like putting chicken in a can.

Actually, I have a decently funded 401k, and all my daughter's college tuition had been paid for through a special guaranteed state fund program. So, while I'm not Croesus, I'm not in penury either.
Maybe I'll buy some shoes?

The Federal Reserve reported that 1 half of households with people
close to retirement had less than 55,000 in savings and one quarter
had less than 13,000.The above info (from this post and the previous post) is from 2002 on this site:
http://www.theceonetwork.com/fac…A study from Temple University (that surveyed people age 21-60) found that:
30% have less than $1,000 in savings
50% have less than $10,000 in savings- retirement is different than savings account to me.dropdown
