Would you use constant contact or mailchimp?
Pros and cons?
Anybody use either?

no.

I've used both. Currently using MailChimp and have had no problems but had a lot of problems with Constant Contact.
MC has better design templates and better support for your own designs. Better interface on the admin tools. Better list tools.... it's just better.

campaign monitor, vertical response

I'd probably never use anything but VerticalResponse.com
MailChimp or CampaignMonitor would be an obligatory 2nd, if VR were not available for whatever reason.

Also, never use Constant Contact. Their service is terrible.

I have a friend who refers to Constant Contact as "Constant Headache"

My Emma is the best out there IMHO. http://www.myemma.com. Constant Contact seems to have a terrible rep. Campaign Monitor is good for small biz campaigns. I've recently heard of SilverPop but don't know much about them.

As designers and developers, I really think you should all try out VerticalResponse. Their campaign dashboard and integrated analytics are best in class.

i'd use www.codedandhosted.com

MailChimp is cheaper and has a lot of features. I am planning to switch. I'm paying 21 per month now with CC and would probably qualify for a free MailChimp account. CC charges $5/m to host the images you use too.
I have found the design in MailChimp to more difficult to use so far.
Does anyone know if you can edit the HTML in Mail Chimp?

it really depends on what you want.
Do you want to be self serve meaning build and deploy the emails yourself
or would you rather offload that job.I'd rather offload it personally. I have enough on my plate.
Its not like you don't sign off on the email before they send it.plus that gives me more time to do things I actually like doing.

Campaign Monitor.
I've got a client who's plugged the CM API into their own gym-management software and is reselling it. It's just great all round...
