Alan Smithee is the fake name that film directors use on the credits when producers ruin their film..... and I've heard designer friends use the same name once or twice... but has anyone here tried to remove their name from creative projects that have gone awry?

I usually go by the name of Alan Smithee

There is precedence for using a pseudonym like this, but usually for different reasons – like circumventing a non-compete.

I once coded the name created by Alan Smithee in the HTML on a project I once despised.

Often we drop our logo from site designs if it gets to a point where we don't consider it to be worthy of having our name attached.
This has been the clients fault every time except once and we fired that designer shortly thereafter..
In this business your reputation is everything!

It's a project I did long, long ago, long since handed off to client dev staff, but they've changed it beyond recognition.... I no longer show it, so maybe nothing really, but some people know me for it.... thanks for the responses.....
