Cuke 426's place?

make sure to refer to it as "W. Dizzle" or you'll get beaten up

There are a ton of places although living in DC i.e. Georgetown, Adams Morgan will cost you a premium. Your better choice is the Northern Virginia route like Alexandria etc. or the Maryland route like Silver Springs. The metro system covers most of the area well so transportation is never a problem. Oh and be prepared to spend some serious cash especially if you are buying, although coming from San Fran the prices shouldn't shock you.

Design Army?

If you don't have much money, move to the western Baltimore suburbs. Way cheaper than DC.

was just in northern va last week. god, it sucks.

DC is terribly expensive

The problem with DC is that the cost of living is like San Francisco, but the typical salary range is like St. Louis. The average standard of living is kinda crappy. I hope the salary you negotiated is the exception to the lopsided norm. We own a house here; absolutely no way would that happen with our income if we lived in the DC area.

Make sure you eat here at least one time.

I live in the area - where is your job?
- daveglanz0
If your job is in the west of the city, Cleveland Park , Bethesda, or Dupont Circle are options. In the east, you have Silver Spring (avoid the north outside the beltway areas). South west - Alexandria and Arlington are good places to look. If you want to be close to music and bars, look near U Street (Columbia Heights / Adams Morgan).
