How much do you guys put onto a print quote as a markup/handling fee?
Or do you opt to stay out of it and let the client deal with it directly?

I have a client that is low with the funds, so we let them deal directly with the bills on printing. Don't want to get stuck with printing bills...

I have clients pay directly and don't mark up. I don't want to be left holding the bag if they don't pay.

Depends on the budget they have....
We can mark things double sometimes if we get it cheap.

My clients pay direct as I am not VAT registered, but I charge a 12.5% handling fee, they are totally aware of this as I outline it in the quote/budget. If they want to find the cheapest quote and deal wit the printers direct I just hand them the artwork

Wouldn't want to say in case my clients are on here but 30% is standard but you can often get away with 50% to 100% if you have a relationship with a good trade printer.

If my client doesn't want to be bothered with finding yet another vendor for their project, I always offer to include printing into my budget. I've done a few wedding invitation sets where the bride already has a ton of other things to get together and is happy to let me take care of production. Of course I tack on an extra 20%, but they're none the wiser.

I handle the printing directly for most of my clients, and charge my time at half my rate but add at least 10% to the quote. I'll charge up to 50% depending on the size and complexity of the print run. A short run, with lots of finishing requirements or odd stock choices and finishing are the ones that get the highest markup.
