I used to play as a kid. It was a ton of fun and I kind of miss it now. I can't even find any channels on tv that show games.
For those outside the US: I'm talking about football.

You have to get a sports package if you want to watch regularly in the US. ESPN2 has Champions League games and MLS. I have the FSC channel with my cable package.
I love watching soccer, I wish I played seriously as a kid. Trying to keep up at any level with people who played all their life seems pretty difficult starting as an adult.
- it could still be a lot of fun for you. i know a lot of people who picked it up in their early-mid twenties and play w/ us sundaysChief

Does anyone, especially from other countries have any perspective on youth training. My son has always been really good and scores a lot of goals. It seems that the only option to continue to advance is to pay for him to be on a 'select' team. The clubs range from $750-2k for 2 sessions.

Was my sport all through childhood and teenage years. Still watch a match now and then. My brother was in Barcelona when they won the UEFA, he said they went ballistic.

I love watching them flop all over the field. Get touched just slightly and suddenly go flying as if getting punched by some super hero. This is the reason I hate SOCCER. Football is football, those fuckers know how to take a hit. I really gave soccer a chance while in Brasil and Spain, but after hours and hours of matches, just got so fed up with the pussyified floppers. snooooozer.
Playing, is a different story, lots of fun. I played indoor a little with friends- let's just pause for some randon DE-fense stats shall we...babaganush

Seed: I was on several advanced soccer teams during my youth. Tryouts were tough and I'm sure my parents payed a fortune. Things got very serious. We were expected to attend (expensive) camps off season with the team, practice everyday, games every weekend with as many tournaments as we could get in to. We had a tough coach, assistant coach and a trainer that played professionally in England. We were pushed to tryout for the olympic development team. I hated it at the time because of the pressure but looking back I remember having a lot of fun. The only reason I stopped was that the coach told me to quit skating (my favorite thing at the time) because I kept having injuries from it. That pissed me off and I quit soccer instead.
- i mainly remember not being able to skate because of my football injuries...bolus
