A bad idea?

flash cms always seems like overkill unless you're editing the site directly within flash... the whole point is seperating the user from the site, so that you can interpret their content.

I've built CMS's for flash sites, clients often get confused and try to paste in MS-Word docs complete with HTML links, resampled images and graphs.... the "they just don't get it" moment sometimes takes over... agency ended up using the CMS to update the site, though they could have easily edited the XML in an XML editor with a bit of carefulness..

Hi there,
From a designers aspect Yooba is an opportunity to provide manageable Flash content for your clients. The characteristics of Flash – animations, transitions and actions etc. is now easily done by built-in settings. We’ve seen quite a few cases where an agency or designer has created a template for the Flash object, which then the client has been able to administer and update themselves. On the other hand, on some occasions the agency end up updating the content. That obviously depends on what’s being created; if it’s a single, temporary campaign site or an on-going project.
The main benefit is the swift and easy creation of Flash content which opens up new opportunities for non-programmers.
Have a go, you get a 30-day free trial, and there might be some business for you.

Sounds like it might be worth checking out.

Flash CMS is a fucking shit idea, I mean with todays browser technology doing content editing in flash is actually like taking a step back. My browsers text boxes have built in spell checking and dictionary as standard, all OS text shortcuts work (jumping between words/lines etc), copy and paste works as expected and its a hell of a lot more responsive than any flash text box.
I notice your website isn't built in Flash......... says alot about your product that.

P.S WYSIWYG IS DEAD

fiesta has a point. why isnt your marketing site built completely in flash?

hrm... so basically you guys built a web based version of flash 5 with a new GUI?
Sorry, i just don't see a client doing that... it's hard enough getting them to use a CMS, let alone that thing. But i'm sure some people will use it, good luck!

this is not my site at all... just thought it was weird

Hi there,
Well, there are quite obvious reasons why you don't want to build a site completely in Flash. Though, we have several Flash objects on our site, built in our service. That's the way we see usage of Flash; to complement and enhance the static content. Then there are sites, such as campaign sites that are built completely in Flash. In comparison to Flash 5, we've tried to make it more accessible and intuitive.
