very very very true, popovich.
seriously, you hit the nail on the head.
i too, by myself alone :( am completely redoing work that was done by a 'very established' name in Dutch graphic design.
client says it is unworkable..(or something along those lines in english.. ;)

nevertheless, Monocle is very inspiring to me and so is some of the work of Winkreative. Also respect to Tyler Brûlé, for he came a long way from being a journalist, a war reporter, a publisher, entrepreneur in publishing to design director. Takes quite some energy and dedication to pull that all off, whether you like him or not.

Such a great collection of brand work

Wow! Look who's been a busy design studio! Love it. I cannot think of an agency with such discipline and consistency that manages to attract such fine clients - the old site was the first of its kind (and set the bar 6 years ago), but they should have changed it years ago - now ... we get a little window on the world of Wink. Wish some other studios would follow suit. Let me in! This site sets the bar - I'm bored of having to dig out my old copy of Creative Review to see what a studio has done, give more sites like this and I can gain some shelve space. Congratulations Winkreative.

I still go back to see how Wink and Sea differientated them selves over the years.

not everyone can buy a mansion from designing jazz posters.. :)

man they've got some massive clients! Really like the vibe of the site and their work. Nice linkage!

some nice work and some sloppy work, same with the website, it's alright but feels a bit clumsy in place... can't really knock Brule though, as much as I'm sure he's so far up in own ass, the man has accomplished quite a bit, in terms of saturating the market with design commodity... overall I did find myself much more impressed with their body of work 5-6 years ago...
- that said, still better than any studio that would hire me..neue75_bold
- don't sell yourself short, JennieRand

Always well though out projects and one of my favorite firms. Nice link BBDK. The kerning on some of their new branding projects seems off though particularly Axios, Brookville, and GF Ferre.

designers really drink that money koolaid, don't they
- JourNYC0
I hear that talent is good for money. But I couldn't tell you. I am always poor.

Jesus, they updated their site...
If I only relied upon their website over the past few years, I'd have thought they had gone out of business?!?!?!
Winkreative, like all good things always leaves me wanting more...

********** beware: OLD THREAD BUMP **********
i saw the monocle podcast, interview with the bmw designer yesterday, and while the interviewee (sp? lol) was well worded and to the point, mr. burned pudding was taking waaay too long time with his questions and it got me ultimately very bored.. anyone else seen it.. am i right?

I am drinking the Kerning Koolaid. Drinks perfectly spaced apart.

No matter what, Brûlé is pushing the boundaries of what a design studio represents in terms of services. I'm always searching for new methodologies and ways to offer clients more, and to me, this body of work is an artful leveraging of publishing and design services.
