Baltimore natives / transplants,
I'll be there for a few nights this coming week. Suggestions on food would be nice. Something mid range and something classy would be good.
I hear I HAVE to go to Phillips, but it seems like that's a chain. We are staying in the inner harbor, but plan to check out Fell's Point as well.
Thanks in advance.

do not go to phillips. it is awful and the inner harbor is a terrible tourist trap. bicycle is good, even better a little further on the federal hill outskirts is the wine market. baltimore is a city of neighborhoods each with their own thing. most of the night-life and action revolves around fells point, federal hill, canton and, mt vernon. downtown is pretty bleak and is usually over run with thugs and tourists during the weekends. definitely check out the american visionary art museum (federal hill). stay away from the 13th floor or the belvedere for that matter, unless you want to get beaten or shot by a gang of kids. what are you into/looking to do/eat? where are you staying?

you will be right downtown, but al right next to federal hill and within walking distance of camden yards. check out fedral hill for a day: cross st market, stop in at a couple of bars (pub dog, abbey burger, no way jose are all among my favs) head over to the american visionary art museum, water taxi to fells point, more bars, cab to canton, dinner at mama's on the half shell, and more bars. for places to eat check out http://www.urbanspoon.com/c/31/B…. my friend has written most of the reviews for baltimore restaurants.
