I'd like to purchase one or the other and don't want to go on price alone. Can anyone share their experience with either?
I did use filter before posting and google.
Thanks

Aperture, go for it.

I think Lightroom is the better of the two. It also integrates exremelly well with photoshop.

Try out both. They both have trial. Use it and see which one you like.
I personally like Lightroom.

Aperture is cheaper. Win.

I love lightroom, esp the new brushes. I've used older versions of Aperture, which seemed slightly hesitant to me, click and wait a second, not sure if Apple has speeded it up or not....

Lightroom for me.

Lightroom

Please don't forget the "why". It is an open ended question.

Neither supports network drives, which sucks if you have big libraries of photos that you want to share.
Lightroom, though.

lightroom for the fact that i share presets with friends associates and vice versa plus there are online communities for it. the multiple catalogs is nice too. i have one for private an professional work, nice for keeping them separated

I began with the lightroom beta so when I tried aperture I was pretty dissapointed and confused. the integration with photoshop and the UI are what sends lightroom over the top

Lightroom, but only to tag and import pics to its catalogue, and Photoshop to process without question (as Lightroom can't perform adjustment layers)...

Lightroom hands down. I have used both. The control in lightroom is amazing. Workflow is easy, Lightroom is in the adobe family. Most professionals use lightroom. It is the photographers tool.
Lightroom.
Lightroom.
Lightroom

never tried Aperture but can say i absolutely love Lightroom.
i love its process and edit tools, pretty much removed photoshop from my image processing workflow.

lightroom fucking blows ass. i bought it and it chokes on my photo library (90k photos). i dono what kind of bullshit megacaching it does, but just because i have a lot of photos doesn't mean it should lag when loading a tiny (300 photo) subset of them. i hate it so much. now, pixmantec rawshooter was the bomb, so super speedy, until adobe bought it and killed it.

I use Photoshop to process my RAW files.. explain why I should use either of these two?

Nightshade ...
- Workflow.
- Thumbnails.
- More efficient.
- Faster.
- Image Control and User Interface.
- Organization. (meta data)
- Searching.
- Setting Plugins.
- Printing. (though I still print from photoshop)
- Cropping.done & done.

Aperture for organising photos etc. Photoshop for editing

looks like i'm going to be forced to look at lightroom. i was hoping aperture would be the clear victor.

I was in the same boat you were a few months back. I ended up using Aperture. Theres a small learning curve but I love it way more than lightroom. With plug-in like Nik color effects pro, Viveza, & portraiture it really is great.
Also, the integration with the rest of the OS is unmatched in lightroom.
Heres an article I found handy
