I have a Macbookpro.
what should I get to blend MP3s and make mixes? Not afraid of mixers. in fact I have one. but its not USB. Serato? Thoughts?

what type of "mixes" are you talking about? like you want to throw down some electronic sets, or what?

Depends if you want to retain the turntable element or use another kind of controller, or just use software for production type mixing.
Ableton is hands down the best software for the latter. Some people are sticklers for keeping the turntable though, in which case look at Final Scratch etc.

gah! which version:

I got the regular version, limited version actually might have everything you need for mixing though. Don't buy it there...

If you're curious about Ableton I'd suggest you try the demo of version 8. In my opinion Ableton is more a tool for live / re-mixing.
Traktor or Serato are the absolute winners here, trust me, I've been there ;-)
