I am thinking about getting one of those foldable bikes that i am starting to see more frequently around the city.
Are there any recommendations out there? I am not to sure which brands/bikes are solid.
Thanks!

These ones are pretty great: http://www.bikefriday.com/
They build them for all uses including touring and speed.

Have fun. Enjoy it fully before it splits in half in the middle of an intersection and humiliates you in front of dozens of cards and pedestrians and forces you to pick up the pieces from the ground in a few seconds and run away in shame thinking you should've bought a real bike.

I don't know much a bout those bikes, but I wonder if it works good considering the frame might be not very rigid, and the fact that wheels looks pretty small.
I'd say the advantage would be to gain some room in your appartment, but the weight might be consequent.

im not a serious bike rider. i just want something that i can hop on to go short distances and back without having to get on a bus.

Get a proper bike and lock it up?
If thats not possible, get a Brompton.
