Every corp is evil. Simple.
- +1utopian
- corporations by definition cant be evil, its simply evil people. and the evil ex/ceo politic guys want peopel to believe corps are evildeathboy
- are evil, becuase they benefits with peopel turnign towards government to fix everythingdeathboy
- at least in business u arent forced, and their is monopoly protection unlike in gov/bizdeathboy

greed is good...
- ukit0
Corps are not evil, they just shouldn't be allowed to run the government paid for with our taxes
- MrDinky0
If thats the case then no one from the govt should work in private sector.
- ukit0
Yeah I mean I see what you are saying Dinky. It's a tough problem. Corruption vs. lack of knowledge.
- MrDinky0
Think of it this way. Lets say you got some freelance gig. You need some help. Would you hire someone you know or worked with OR hire just someone who dont know.
Its like that in govt and private. It doesnt matter what industry you are in.
- ukit0
Hmmm, well here's another analogy
Let's say a client hires you for a job. In order to get this client you need the services of a very powerful, connected friend.
However, in addition to doing the job, you funnel a big chunk the clients money back to your friend as a reward. In addition you take the job the client tasked you with and reconfigure it in ways that will enrich you and your friend.
- kickbacks arent legally wrong in private sector but hella wrong in gov. politicans have know integritydeathboy
- MrDinky0
Thats wrong because?

@Dinky..just by saying "that's the way it works" doesn't mean that is the way it should work. Just saying.
I end up in these conversations all the time with my friends who work in banking, and they all just kinda give me that smug smile, shake their heads condescendingly and say "Well, see you just don't understand..."
Yeah. Fine, tell me again how the corruption works. 'Cause that's what it's called in other industries.

I thought I just read somewhere the other day that debunked this whole Goldman Sachs story.
- spendogg0
I imagine some of it can be debunked about they are solely responsible for inflating bubbles on purpose. But the underlying message of how they changed from a long term investment approach that makes GS and thier clients money over time to flat out robbing everyone is what makes me sick

TheBlueOne
I am not saying its not corruption. It is but thats what we got. The system changes from time to time, like cleaning house, as per this bust. No one complains when things are good as proceeds of these banks.
- Very true..esp. the bit about "no one complains..."TheBlueOne

I hate when people defend the corrupt status quo and treat people like they are idiots because they are against it.
- TheBlueOne0
I trust Taibi. The guy has plenty of cred, and it's interesting he cut his teeth covering how the oligarchs took over Russia after the communist regime fell. I read in an interview with him that he came home to only start seeing the same exact shit happen here, now and he's just really fucking angry..which I think comes through in the piece for Rolling Stone. Kinda subtracts a bit from the "objective journalist" part, but puts some blood and heat behind the writing...

i liked it better when TBO said it first

The problem is all these stories want to act like there is one motivating force behind it all whether it's Goldman, the U.N. or some other evil guy sitting in a chair somewhere petting a cat like in James Bond.
Usually it's a lot more complicated and messy than that.
- MrDinky0
Ok lets put it this way. You are reading from Rollingstones about finance. There is something wrong with that. If you want to know more how things dont work and how bad it is. Read Bloomberg or WSJ.
- Sure, uh-huh.TheBlueOne
- Bloomberg, maybe...WSJ? Fuck no.TheBlueOne
- Esp. since Murdoch bought it.TheBlueOne
- That agree on.MrDinky
- Dinky has no idea who the writer is apparently.DrBombay
