well I was thinking that I would look for a variety of styles. etc before I start. I plan to do it by hand in the end but was looking for some inspired contributions from the group.
Sorry maybe I'll just stick to thread about michael jackson in the future

And if you can't do it yourself, here's a few links. Amazing what a 3 min. search on Google provides:

I've only done two jobs that needed handmade type (display text in both cases), and it was a major hassle each time. I enjoyed doing it, though. It felt good to do something by hand and take the time and care to do it right. I do it all the time, though, for cards I make for family and friends.
Do it by hand. It's fun.

Not everyone is a typographer unfortunately. And while I'm not saying is your case, sometimes people think they are "doing it right" but they are just "doing it" again, trying to be as politically correct as I can, and nothing directed to your work, just your comment. There is nothing wrong with hiring an illustrator or a photographer that knows what they are doing, why wouldn't be the same with a typographer?
Hell.. we are being hired by clients to do their design work, how many clients you know that they think their self designed website "was done right"?
It all depends on the project, the direction you are looking for and the designer behind the project, some times you can do it all, sometimes you don't. There is no right or wrong answer.
:)
- all this, assuming you he is not a typographer of course.Meeklo

loads of nice hand drawn and hand set lettering and what not. used a few for a recent project myself. even if you don't actually buy anything they have a lot of good examples.
