Maybe I've been looking at it too long, maybe it needs some more refinement .. I don't know, really.
The logo is supposed to look handwritten and therefore the ascenders are different and also the baseline is not consistent .. well give it to me straight..
Btw, it's just in the circle and square for reviewing purposes, not decided about the end treatment yet, anyway, enough said.

- slant it slightly? or is that daft?kelpie
- just thinking that no-one on earth writes by hand on a baseline that levelkelpie
- yes - wat kelps saidWeLoveNoise
- Aye, I agree with this. What I was trying to say below.shitehawke
- also, you should incorporate a flower flourish coming off the k.
just for added gaynesskelpie - if ur gona add gayness - make the loop in the L into a penisWeLoveNoise

like it, needs more work and if i were to do it i'd prob have made it more handwritten.
but if ur gona keep this version i would change the C ascender - looks too defined in relation to the rest of it

it seems like your A is a little bigger than the other letters.

I quite like it in the circle, I also think that white on black is quite apt considering the name.
I do think that the logo itslef needs a little more variety, although you say the baseline is inconsistent it looks visually flat, perhaps a little curve at the bottom would make it look more handwritten and less uniform. Id also consider making the 'c' bigger, again to make it more handwritten. And perhaps add some more space between the letters, it'll help when it reduces in size, you can already see the letters bleeding a little into each other when its in the square.
These are just minot things to me, overall I quite like it.

for me it doesn't look truly hand written, more like a script font or signpainters script.
I think you should either go for true hand writing (write it yourself and work from that) or find a nicer script font:
House industries would be a good place to start looking, I like their lasvegas font:
but equally I have no idea what this logo is for (care to enlighten us?)

I like it although the 'l' and 'k' are a little too close together, maybe make the loop of the 'l' a little narrower. Nice.

just had a thought that maybe if you printeds it out, sat it in front of you, then tried to recreate it freehand over and over again till you get it as close as poss, you might be able to naturally fiond the exact correct curves going through the letters to re-create it again. just a thought

- I would make the loop more identical, esp the L, as those loops are the main repetitive part of the logos. just my 2cent.dyspl
- hmm, looks worse now, the C is fatter than the other letters, especialy at the C/H joinBaskerviIle
- @baskerville, photoshop quick draft.
for nice refined letters, I'll take 50% :)dyspl - I think its lost a bit of messy charmkelpie
- oh, didn't notice you weren't the poster. cheeky fuckerkelpie
- yep it looks less handwritten, you're right.
having some background info would be nice Jordy.dyspl

I like the 'Veer' logo much better, because of the consistancy of the weight/contrast in the characters. Like other have said, the loop of the L need the most work.

Life looks better in a circle

maybe look at old 50's americana, that's what comes to mind when I see it. by the way, I reckon you're gettting all the suggestions cos its really close, rather than really shit. just wanted to say
- Aye, true. Its nearly there just needs tweaking to finish it off.shitehawke

Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback! This is basically what was in the back of my head, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
I agree on that it needs more inconsistency in linethickness. And yeah maybe i should put the letters more off the baseline .. right now it's almost straight.. I just did the C today .. wasn't really happy with it either, just wanted more feedback. Imo one of the hardest letters to do.
The logo is for a small studio that wants to be reminded of a time without worries. Chalk reminds you of a time without worries, when you were little but still wanted to create, you used chalk, to go freehand on the pavement, making a statement for everyone to see. But it also wears off in the rain and is erasable, easy to start over .. It's playful, and also used to teach you something back in school by writing on the blackboard ..
There are loads of reasons why the name as chosen..
Anyway, gonna work on it some more, again thanks for the feedback.

- Yes, I think we know there are other logos using script. Who cares?CygnusZero4
