"Work Club" was a bit of a weird one to work with for a while.
people kept thinking we were either a youth charity or a recruitment agency.
but then after a while - what you do and how you behave becomes more important than the name :)

Like someone else said, as long as the work is good it doesn't (shouldn't) matter.
Just don't ever spell anything wrong. You know, using K instead of C or Z instead of S.

Naming strategy depends on intended clients...
if you're a post production house or 3d animation shop, you can be insanely quirky, as you're appealing to agency creatives as your clients...... TV production companies can have names like "worldwide pants"
If your clients are fortune 500, you can be quirky, but should be google-able. Many firms have names that are supposed to be evocative, like "design toaster oven" ... but try googling that...
Silly-con valley in around 2000 had alot of names like swirlmax or some made-up nonsense... very google-able but meaning what?!?

Bump.
I always thought Smith & Black was kind of cool. It was a name my buddy was considering for a while when he and an engineering colleague were going to do a joint venture. Their last names of course were Smith & Black. Black Smith was not something they wanted to use.

my first co was 'the speared peanut' http://www.spearedpeanut.com/
people liked and remembered the name, but it was annoying constantly explaining why we named it that.
