Just dont buy anything by the water. In the winter, is a wind tunnel and really not fun.
Try my old apartments. Both borders of Richmond and Spadina, both very lovely buildings
- Anything below King sucks.MrDinky
- Pretty true, pretty true.pylon
- will check, thanks dbrandelec
- Not a good are for kids, though. Better off a few blocks west.Andrew_D
- "area"Andrew_D
- andrew, would that be queen/bathurst area?brandelec
- Go a little further west along Richmond or even Adelaide. Sketchy at Queen and Bathurst, obviously.Andrew_D

commute is considered. somedays i can't tell which has it worst northbound/southbound... dvp looks like a parking lot both ways after 5
- Agreed. There's really something to be said for being able to walk / bike to work.pylon
- I'm with ya, Pylon. I avoid TTC as much as possible. I'll even ride in the rain/light snow.Andrew_D
- I hate the TTC. Just use it in the winter. Bike spring/summer/fall.canuck
- I'm a walker now, I'm less excited about biking after going over a car the SECOND time.pylon
- *knock on wood* I've never experienced that. I worry more about the GF on her bike than me.Andrew_D

Only down side about Richmond / Queen corner is that on weekend its filled with drunk club goers.
If you want more normalcy, I would suggest Trinity Bellwood Park area. I love that part of town. Small restaurants, steps to shops, and some cute lofts.
- +1 for Trinity and especially if you've got a kid, Brandelec.Andrew_D
- exactly. he's 17 years from that stuff :)brandelec

This is an awesome building (richmond and Queen)
http://www.canadianarchitect.com…I would buy a place there in a heart beat if I still lived there. Make sure you get the loft in that building. Its freaking amazing.

Any sites that aggregate places available for rent? Craigslist is total shit.

There's one on Sorauren that's a smaller scale conversion development and looks pretty nice. Just don't let the kids walk down to Queen.
- Quiet street too.Tungsten
- Really far west. More or less in semi subMrDinky
- Roncey is close, too. I'd buy there, co-worker owns a house on that street a touch south of there.Andrew_D
- It's not Etobicoke, Dinky.Andrew_D
- To me thats semi sub :DMrDinky
- Calling Queen West a semi- suburb is gonna make the hipsters really angryTungsten
- There were no hipsters when I was there. just strollersMrDinky

There are so many newer lofts in toronto, I think you just have to find a good location. If you are older and have a kid, Trinity area if not, I would stay at Richmond / Spadina. I love looking at 2 am fight club in front of my apartment. Random drunk girls naked etc

how's spadina and king?

Wouldn't go further South if I were you, though. Those Cityplace condo's are terrible.
