yeah, I rented it on DVD at the store, under new releases.
I had no idea what I was getting, I just saw the photos in the back of the box, and looked amazing

I wonder if you are able to create a movie like this without abusing acid tabs...

The thing about Japanese movies is you have to watch them right to left.

i didn't get the ending.

You guys should look up "kekko kamen" or "cutie honey" for some campy japanese weirdness. Maria Ozawa is in Kekko Kamen and it is almost soft core porn that looks like the power rangers.

i watched this and tried to like it. some of it was cool but it moved along very slowly and the ending was just awkward and probably very Japanese in a way i don't really understand. kinda felt cheated for sitting through the whole thing...
- It is certainly slow and boring at times. I only gave it three stars on Netflix.full_bleed

i watched it in japanese - which i do not understand. tripple weird. i really like that they mixed those completely different styles. i would love to be surprised originally in cinema like that.

the ending was the cherry on top of the overall madness, the scene where the entire family is kicking the red monster's ass was pretty funny, but yeah... NO RELATION WITH THE REST OF THE FILM at all... wow.. talk about random

I watched this last night on Netflix streaming. straaaaaaaange.
WTF was up with the ending sequence? Did they run out of money for the CGI? Perplexed.

The ending is a representation of the Japans reliance on the United States for their defense. The Red Devil monster is China or maybe North Korea. It is the only "real threat" to Japan (Big Man), and while they see themselves as heroic, they can not stand up the the "Red Devil" alone. Notice that the "Justice" family is all dressed in Red, White, and Blue... They stand for America's involvement in overseas afairs. There is also an American flag waving inside of the court yard of one of the little fake buildings during the sequence, (perhaps an American Embassy). The CGI portions represents Japan's idealistic fantasy while the rubber suit portions represent Japan's stark reality.
The credit roll where the Justice family is all sitting around the table arguing shows how Americans are more concerned about their image and than the actual outcome of any confrontation. Big Man just sits there, uninterested for the most part because Japan could care less about how America handles its affairs as long as they are protected.
- but why did it suddenly shift into bad effects as per their lame Ultraman shows?dopepope

- I don't buy it. I think it had more to do with the main character talking about the new generation had no respect.DrBombay
- That could be true too I guess. Some people say Big Man was killed by the Red Devil and the rubber suit part was his afterlife.full_bleed

I enjoyed it a lot. Those monsters were out there! And I did enjoy the documentary style of the whole thing even tho it was a bit slow at times. The ending was just bizarre. Funny tho. A movie like no other. that's for sure.
