I suppose we have to start somewhere but it does seem pretty odd.
Right now it makes zero sense, fuck knows how much each magazine will cost but who the hell would want to pay MORE for advertising

"hey, i need you to do some video editing"
"what the..? i don't do video, i am a print designer"
"well, it's for a printed magazine.."
"fuck you!"
"but why...?"

it's like when a client wants their site to navigate using the page flip flash navigation.
retrofit that shit.

awesome idea!
so now you have the vid in that magazine, and inside that vid you need to do an interactive flash flipover magazine and on the pages in that magazine you could do a video..great for attention!!! //

40 minutes of ads where I can just flip the page to end the pain?

This is new?

We have a contact at Americhip and they were able to give us a fair amount of examples of similar technology they've been working on. Indeed it is not "new"... i saw the demo of the 40minute video thing in one of their promo pieces... and was hugely disappointed. The quality of the video is atrocious and the sound is on par with a tin-can.
Also, in quoting a gimmicky project from them it became clear very quickly that just about anything you want to do through them is way, way, way ridiculously expensive.
The only people who would use trash like this are large agencies with massive budgets who only care about how flashy their advertising campaigns are.
- saw the demo about a year agod_rek
- sorry that last statement is hugely subjectived_rek

I for one think this is bad ass - imagine the possibilities of what you can do with a big pile of those screend linked together.
I mean sure, they are not going to be great quality, but if they have rechargeable batteries someone is going to find a way to wire a bunch of them together and make on giant screen.
all for the price of a magazine.
neat.

Really this is the future of all 'paper'.. the question is how will people use it and how many years of 'look what I can do' we will have to put up with before it settles down and your kids ask you stories about the time when newspaper and magazines pages couldn't move.
