we built this in a week..
crazy deadline. but really would be nice if you could all sign the form. they don't keep the data or spam you.. literally just need 30million signatures to help worlds poorest people get into school.
so watch the vimeo clip on the first page to get idea of what its about.
- Coffeemaker0
signed. nice website btw!
goodluck.
- dMullins0
The grass at the bottom is killing me!
I like the header treatment though, and where you were going with the mark. Shame you didn't have more time.
Signing up now.
- Corvo20
How will 30 million signatures help the poorest people in the world get into school.
- thatblokemike0
ok i'll attempt to summarise but just go to site and read if you want to know more about the cause...
(goes something like this.. i think)
around decade ago global leaders at some big united government event thing, promised to work together to meet several targets towards a better world, inc, cleaner air, less war poverty etc.. and vowed to fund these targets. all of the countries have completely fucked up and there only a couple of years left to reach these targets. rather than fucking all the promises up they can focus on 1goal that actually achievable. and that's reducing poverty globally by putting children into education. by signing its like democracy the majority of people can have a voice to tell the governments what to priortise to meet at least one of the targets by the deadline that was set. probably the most important.so what you waiting for go sign, and 75 million kids can go to school.
- I did go to the site and watched the video. That's why I asked.Corvo2

"around decade ago global leaders at some big united government event thing, promised to work together to meet several targets towards a better world, inc, cleaner air, less war poverty etc.. "
are you talking about the millenium development goals?
is there some particular MDG target date/strategy meeting when this peitition can be used as lobbying collateral?
- Corvo20
So I'm guessing you built this site pro bono and no one involved in this campaign made any buck whatsoever.
- .Corvo2
- I imagine they've already made their buckskingsteven
- thatblokemike0
The charity is NOT trying to raise or save money as it has this from its sponsors, its trying to get signatures. The agency took a loss with staff costs to promote the cause.
I hope thats not a question on my integrity corvo2? as my weeks wage aint gonna get 75million kids into school. but my taxes will if you put your signature on the website
Everyone from FIFA, (I think saatichi) to many other associates that make up a sponsored charity, or something like that. Business with money that work together to fund this to happen. What's the problem here?
- Corvo20
And the problem here is that there are people making money from other people's disgrace. Doesn't that sound like a problem to you?
- thatblokemike0
can you be more specific, I can't see what your alluding to?
the sponsors are trying to lobby global governments into making sure that all the worlds children can go to school. I think thats as deep as it runs in my mind. Can you explain what you think is happening?
- Corvo20
Of course I can explain it.
My doubts go into "lobbies" and "making sure that all the worlds children can go to school.". The way you put it makes it looks like it can be solved in a minute.
Do you really believe your own words?
There's not one single piece of evidence of how this can be achieved, in your site.
Why do you need my signature for?
It makes me think that it's your sponsor that needs my signature to comply with some marketing goals, or do you really think that those war-lords in Africa care about campaings and signatures even if they come from the U2's fucking Bono itself?
Get real man.
- Corvo20
I'm sorry for my bluntness, but I've stopped believing in these sort of campaigns no matter how well-intentioned they are.
It's just that I always find commerce underlying the championing of the poorest and the real money and profit not going to the subjects of the cause.
I'm terribly sorry, but I don't believe it any more.
It's probably my fault or maybe I'm just not cool any more.
- thatblokemike0
"It's probably my fault or maybe I'm just not cool any more." - sorry dude this has nothing to do with 'you' and personally find it quite sad you would try to make it.
good intentions heal the soul, inaction is a weapon of mass destruction.
- lowimpakt0
although I really think you putting time into the project is great and 100% support you on it I have the same reservations about the sponsors of teh campaign as Corvo.
At first I thought it was just that the campaign wasn't communicated very well but it may be that I may be biased because I have personal issues with the football industry - massive profits, offensively overpaid footballers etc.
I think if they backed up their campaign with some real commitment to finance their efforts. Simple things like FIFA pledging to donate a certain percentage of their 100's millions of pounds of profits or asking the insanely rich football stars to donate a percentage of their pay. For example a 1% annual salary sacrifice.
Most of the discussions on the millenium development goals that last few years isn't the lack of political will but it is the lack of finance. Education can reduce poverty but it is a ciclical issue. If countries don't have the cash they can't invest in education in the first place.
- thatblokemike0
lowimpakt if you think that companies like cola, or fifa or whoever should spend their own money on educating children then thats a strange opinion. personally I think its OUR responsibility to tell OUR leaders to put children in education. I think its disgusting that companies are having to spend their own earned money to lobby the government.
"Most of the discussions on the millenium development goals that last few years isn't the lack of political will but it is the lack of finance" - the money required is hell of a lot less than was spent on bailing out the banks.
lets be realistic and stop pushing blame or responsibility to companies. we shouldn't blame business owners who are spending money on trying to influence the decisions of world leaders to spend some of our money towards benevolent causes. Its an ongoing initiative that needs doing properly, not via commercial funding.
- lowimpakt0
how is it "disgusting" that companies might have to take some responsibility for the issues that they are trying to lecture us and other about?
what about the Gates foundation or other such private philanthropy organisations? should they stop doing what they are doing because it is private money going to development projects?
- lowimpakt0
i'd like to see something like this http://www.onepercentfortheplane… for development goals
