What really sucks about design crowdsourcing is how people submit the ideas, the client says this and that, and then other people steal or adjust the ideas with tweaks from client's feedback.
If the competing designers wouldn't see each other's entries, would it suck less?

I think this should fall under what's wrong with 2009.

why didn't this comment just stay in the CP+B thread that obviously inspired the thought?
- it was my first thought when I saw crowdspring or what was the first platfrom, CP+B thread just reminded me of that againjimbojones

if used well and coordinated smoothly crowdsourcing can be a wonderful thing.
the fact that crowdsourcing is regarded so negative by some is only to blame on the wrong parameters that are set for such venture...
- can you point to some examples of good use of crowdsourcing?vaxorcist

Crowdsourcing a handjob might be kind of awesome.

A good example of crowdsourcing (each participant was actually paid too):

A lot of times it's a euphemism for outsourcing, considering that a lot of the people on those sites are from third world countries where it is economical for them to work for (nearly) free.
It's a clever marketing tactic. Call it "outsourcing" and you think of work being produced by people in the third world for slave wages. Call it "crowdsourcing" and it sounds like the future of business.

we have wired to thank for the term:

except that crowdspring and 99designs et al are not crowdsourcing, they are a lottery where you have to work for the ticket.
