We'll do it again when you get here! It's go time...this is not a drill.

I won't be able to make it either bc I'm flying back home to the midwest that night. Would be sweet to make it to the next one though :-)

I'm in day-go or sandy-eggo (hate these)
down for drinks.

ok, this is a little off topic but I need to know if anyone else has seen this guy.
On the boardwalk in mission beach about a block or so south of san juan place, there is a guy who owns this really nice contemporary house. Its got lit palm trees, huge windows so you can see everything inside, and giant tiki torches on the patio.
The guy who lives there looks like lindburg from office space, has a serious overtan and is probably the biggest douchbag in the world.
One day I am walking down the boardwalk (at about 11 at night) and hes sitting there with the full entertainment system on, dance lights going crazy and the tiki torches blazing. There was no one else there, not one person. This place looked like a scene from night at the roxbury minus the people. Not sure what that was about.
I have also seem him yelling at his housekeeper (a small 65 year old mexican man) to rub lotion all over his body. I was running by, and then I ran back (maybe 5 min later) he was still being lathered up.
I know there are crazies in mission beach, but I think this one takes the cake.

Wow - I'm glad I haven't seen that guy.

what's the deal folks?

i can't make this one either, but i'm down for the next one, who would have thought an actual SD thread on QBN... althogh there are less than 10 people on it..ha ha...

Wow how did this one slip under my radar?!
I've got family from out of town here this week but I will try my best to be there. It's on my calendar. It'd be great to meet a few fellow newstoday/QBN'rs in person.

do we awkwardly trickle in, spot the "group", get drunk whilst recounting the events which led up to loving newstoday, congratulate one another on enjoying the same corner of the internet, exchange cards, and make false plans to collaborate on projects? since the answer is yes, i'll go first: i have no fucking clue why i started reading newstoday, but here i am. congratulations to you all. i hate my card, you can't have one, i'm working on a new one, forever. let's collaborate on a not-for-profit "experimental" project - errr, nevermind, i have a shitty side-gig that i want to turn down but won't. rain-check?
no, but seriously i was serious. i do like the suggested venue and i (clearly) like alcohol. i'll probably show and lurk from afar.

I'm sure it will be very much like the opening scene from Ronin.
I'll check the place out for a while... then look for my exit options just in case. Then I'll walk in and ask for a drink.
After I spot the group I'll have a seat and we can all take turns asking meeklo whats in the god damn case! Then one of you will get real smart and start talking about typography like you went to a fancy college, I'll stop you mid sentence and ask you ask you to draw what your talking about... at this point this person will say "I don't think I like your attitude" I will continue to pressure and call you out and eventually ambush you with a cup of coffee.
At the end of the night we still won't know whats in that fucking case.

I'm already getting thirsty. Thursday can't come soon enough.

Maybe we should take this 2.0 and turn it into a tweet-up. Just sayin'
- morilla0
I think I will do the same as sofaking. Get there and already drink for an hour or two and sit in the back corner while casing the joint.

I'm down!
I think I can recognize morilla from some of his photos, everyone else I have no clue how you look like (and I had no idea there was so many peeps from SD either). I will be there! Not sure how we can arrange in advance so no one gets lost and cant find the group (not that the place is that big to begin with)
any ideas?

I have never been to the Blind Lady, what is the layout? Belly up or booths?
