- can you change blue to green and Univers to Utopia?jimbojones
- OF COURSE you can, that's what I pay you for!jimbojones
- And add these 9 bullet points while you're at it....vaxorcist
- wait, I need you to really clean this up too, it's beginning to look too busy, we need some POP!vaxorcist

I had a creative director who did the opposite of Morning_Star's experience... we spent alot of time on version A, some time on version B and a few minutes on version C. He knew the client's psychology all too well and presented C as if it was the one we spent the most time on, B as as a test and C as "random experiment" and of course, client chose C
- arrgh... oops, meant A as a random experiment, client chose A... I am easily confused in old age!vaxorcist
- might give that a try!FallowDeer

Process.... I don't do logos, but I do try to make sure we all agree on the business goals, target audience and who exactly has to approve what before showing anything to anyone...

It's called "process" for a reason. And since it's design you should all be more respectful and boast the creativity you like to verbalize here and while starting a new document close all those illegal downloads.

There is a major UK comparison site that we spent several days designing two really nice logos for... you know... getting them 'just' right. We realised we'd promised three different logos and spend 15 mins throwing together the final version. Have a fucking guess which one they went with....clients are shit...but they pay the bils.
- Brilliant.
// So the creative director is doing his/her job right yeah?Dancer - Sometimes just leading the horse to the water is an epic struggle.Morning_star

I would show as many of your ideas that are good, so that could be as many as you want.
Just dont show any rubbish ones as the client will pick it

2 - 3 max. if you've got more than 2 you've probably not spent enough time on the first 2.

It varies for me, but I usually show 3 or 4 concepts with at least a second stylistic alternate for each. So the client ends up reviewing 6–12 variations in the first meeting, but after that I push them hard to narrow it down to one.

Obviously your client wants to feel they are getting their monies worth.
If you have 7 great ideas that slightly shift change focus why not submit all... You do not want to confuse them but at the end of the day the client's opinion DOES matter

If you involve the client in your thinking process, show him the steps and explain what lead to what, one option is perfectly ok. Or show him 3 *ideas* and let him choose one. Too many options for a final result is wasting your and his time.

one....???? Do you completely omit client participation?
Max 4, I would say...
- i concur. fuck what paul rand says, we aint him.airey
- All clients are good for is writing checks.MondoMorphic

maximum 3 minimum 2. they need something to think about, a decision to feel in control and not too many options which cause decision paralysis.

When i was younger i presented several, but then sometimes there was whole number of meetings where they just couldn't come to agreement, so now i stick to one. You like it or u don't and thats it.
Most of times i don't do a shit after that but, at least i don't feel like fucking horse.- Doing shit makes you feel like horse? Its a natural human process mate.set

When you're asked to design an new logo or identity. Do you present just one design or do you give the de client multiple options they can choose from...
