Did Warren Buffett just bet against the U.S. economy?
His latest investment raises some questions.

Warren Buffett has long been critical of gold as an investment, saying it “has no utility” and that the “magical metal” is no match for “American mettle.” He once wrote that “Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head” over how we treat the shiny stuff on this planet.

Yet the Berkshire Hathaway BRK.A, -0.58% boss just acquired nearly 21 million shares of Barrick Gold GOLD, -0.55% worth $563 million, while selling shares of Wells Fargo WFC, +1.11% and JPMorgan Chase JPM, +0.03% , according to 13-F filings released Friday afternoon.

The move kicked up buzz among gold bugs and other Wall Street watchers across the internet, who saw Buffett’s trades as perhaps signalling a shift in his views on the market.

Donald Trump officially joins TikTok competitor Triller.

Before 9am Monday, I made a 68% return on a little stock trade I placed last Thursday on 7DIG, a company supplying the video tech for Triller. Thank you Trump. Great start to the week.

Made £1620 by 8:01am while wearing just my pants - trading the 7DIG mention yesterday. Had bought a dip around 3pm yesterday. Sold on the inevitable opening ramp due to all the hype regarding that stock. Penny stocks.... you have to wait for right one, but when the right one comes along, you can ride the wave and make a tidy sum.

Would I invest long term in https://www.7digital.com

Yeah, I think a £1k stake for a 1 or 2 year hold wouldn't be too bad. Would I buy now.... no way, the stock went up nearly 200% yesterday and is up 20% today. I'd wait a few weeks for all those buying in now to close out when they see it slowly retrace.

    • Anyway... this is what I love about capitalism. The casino of the markets.shapesalad

Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and the rest of the ‘Oligarchic Dozen’ just reached a ‘disturbing milestone’

“The rich get richer” doesn’t even begin to tell the story these days.

According to the Institute for Policy Studies, the wealth of the top 12 billionaires in the U.S. recently exploded to more than one trillion dollars — yes, 13 digits.

The statistic, of course, is an eye-popping figure on its face, made even more so in light of the devastation in the broader economy due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This is a disturbing milestone in the U.S. history of concentrated wealth and power,” said Chuck Collins, a director for the Washington D.C.-based progressive think tank. “This is simply too much economic and political power in the hands of twelve people. From the point of view of a democratic self-governing society, this represents an Oligarchic Dozen.”

Since the pandemic first blew up in the U.S. back in March, the “Oligarchic Dozen” has enjoyed a 40% surge in its combined wealth — or an increase of $283 billion.
