Firefox's bookmarks toolbar thingy has a habit of slowing down after even moderate use.
The root cause is the underlying database getting fragmented. Many tips have been published suggesting shutting down firefox and using the command line to tidy the database.
A significant improvement can be gained from within firefox without shutting it down. The benefit is considerably faster history display when typing into the location box.

I always used plugins that disabled awesomebar and restored FF2 display style.

- Hello there, voted early today?
Plugin is oldbar and it sucks since 3.5, needs you to type www prefix to display sitesraf - Hmm, but worth it apart from that? Haven't voted yet, have to go to my foks and collect the card later.shitehawke
- Try it, it's free and easy to remove. I just never dug the awesomeness of awesomebarraf

I actually never had any Flash issues with Safari. In FF though, youtube vids are always jumpy. It is supposedly caused by FF saving sessions repeatedly.
I had to get coolbook because of Flash. What it does, it lowers your processor voltage. Doesn't affect performance whatsoever, but you don't hear the fan so often. Also, it increases battery running times noticeably.

I agree. FF is getting worse with each version they release.
I tried Chrome.. the more I use it the more I like it. It's FAST and stable like no other.
They should improve the bookmarks management and some minor usability details in the interface.Opera rocks too.

I've always been consistent in my hate towards Opera.
Now that got quite good, I found a reason to continue on: it doesn't support CSS rotation (which even IE 5.5 supports in a quirky way).
